Exceptional Student Education Endorsements

Based on Florida’s State Board of Education rules, four endorsement areas are available for special education (or ESE) teachers - autism spectrum disorders, orientation and mobility, prekindergarten disabilities, and severe/profound disabilities. An endorsement can be added to a current teaching certificate by taking approved coursework and applying to the Bureau of Educator Certification. Subject area tests are not available for endorsements. See the Educator Information section for specific requirements.

The Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services has developed a set of modules that school districts may use for a district add-on endorsement program in Prekindergarten Disabilities. This option may be used by teachers in lieu of taking college courses. Contact your district coordinator to check the availability of this option in your school district.
